Is it possible that the lights goes automatically on?

Post by enver82 » Mon Sep 05, 2011 11:07 am

As the law in Bosnia is to have the lights on 24h a day of course when you are driving :D I wonder is there a possibility to manage this like in my other car Mercedes E class,my E53 got a option for automatic powering on the lights but this only works at night or a tunnel.Where is the light sensor thinking to stick something on it?!

Hi
The BMW dealer should be able to do it for you. I am sure I had them switched on when I was trying different settings on the scanner. Just for example this one on the page look at the LCM picture. Top right within the image it says "Daytime running lights". This particular item is way over priced there are cheaper versions of it just they did not have the image I was looking for. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-1-4-0-Sca ... 2c5f14f8d8 . Or it would be cheeper to put a bit tape over the sensor. I think it must be behind the rear view mirror.

I asked the guy who does my car for me if it was possible to activate the daytime running lights, mines an 06 E53 3.0D, he said they are only available on the E70 and he's a BMW technician, hope this helps.

Hi I am sure I have been able to se the lights to come on. They put the main beam with the angle eyes. I think it was the american lights. I was really looking to just get the angle eyes on but only tried one setting and put it back to how it was. I do not have xenon lights. I will look again tommorrow when I get a chance and report back what I find. My local BMW garage told me there was no way to activate my parking heater through the timers but I managed it and it works fine.

Hi tried today. I can get the lights to come on, the side lights and the head lights. They come on using the american 1 version on the LCM in the scanner. So you can always asking the dealer to try it for you. As before I do not know if it makes any difference if you have xenon lights. Hope it helps.
