Confoosed

Post by Dubs » Wed Aug 31, 2011 2:17 am

I have had my 2005 e53 X5 4.4 for 18 months now and I think I am ready to start tweaking it from the inside out.
I am really confused as to which way to go about it and I am looking for some guidance please.

I want to be able to read and clear codes but also change things slightly like auto door lock at 'x' kph, auto mirror folding when locked by fob (I do have motorised windows already), tv in motion, reset oil and service lights etc.

Here's what I see are the options:

ibus connectivity

Peake tool

USB interface

Scanner

Are these similar?
Do they do different things?

I am quite happy to nut through and learn things like coding as long as I have the right tools to do it.

Help me X Drivers, you're my only hope....

Hi
I have the scanner 1.4. It will allow you to change some of the functions ie indicator light flash when lock unlock beep lock unlock. The ebay item below has a list of the functions you can change with the scanner. You cant reset the service light with it as far as I am aware. Very easy to use.

I have not used anything else so I cant tell you the pros and cons of them.

Hi
You need a laptop unless you can get your desktop close I presume. I have it on netbook and it works fine. There is a few threads about thes on here. Just search for scanner. If you had been closer you could have seen it work and change the things on your car. I activated my aux heater so it will work from the timers. Thats the main reason I bought it. It possibly was not from that ebayer but of the top of my head I think I paid about the same price.
