damn self levelling susp inactive again

Post by bonerp » Fri Aug 12, 2011 9:59 am

I had this before and BMW replaced the air compressor in the boot. That was 3 months ago.

This morning the sign came on again as soon as I drove off I did start and whizz off very quickly tho - does this system need a few secs to initiate ??

I stopped down the road and restarted, then pulled off normally and it was fine.

Stopped again a few miles later and started and it was fine.

Just a blip??? thanks

It can be very temperamental. Probably always better to just turn the key to position 2 and then wait a second or so just to let the motor go through it's checks.

+1 for the wait a sec. My Dealer told me to put the key in, turn to Pos 2 then put my seatbelt on and by that time the self tests and boot-up will (or should) have completed so then start the car.

Since doing it I've not had any false flags. Before that the suspension one was a fairly common one, along with Low Oil Pressure! or Low Oil Level! :x

Mine keeps blowing fuse 87 and thus dropping the rear. Replace the fuse and all is well. It's been to Halliwell Jones in Warrington when under warranty who did the usual plug in and change the fuse without seeing what's causing the fuse to blow. Annoying but a simple fix so long as I have 30 amp fuses knocking about!
