Anyone know where I can get some Zimmerman coat Z rear break discs for my X5.
I've tried GSF but they only seem to be able to supply me Brembos
Cheers

Agreed ......Brembo's going on mine next as from what research done it seems these are same or near same as OE albeit without the logo. Some good deals on the standard non drilled items if you research & shop around but beware fakes too- just in case. proper Brembo's have anti-corossion coating to non friction surfaces too.

I confess my advice on brembos is 3rd hand. I replaced my BMW ones with 3rd party items from C3BMW and the discs supplied weren't made by manufacturer they had stated.......cant even recall who made them. A few years later and I am now at point where they may need changing before long & within say 5-10k. I researched on xoutpost & elsewhere & and found consensus the bmw X5 E53 3.0i/3.0d & 4.4i discs are made by Brembo also as BMW ones claimed to have anti-corossion treatment.
This was going to be a nice little day project for me to source & fit this week as I have a few days off, however, other car & non car issues mean brakes will have to wait - obviously at 1st sign of any safety compromise then I will bite the bullet & source same.
I contributed to chat elsewhere re best places to source discs & pads. The Bmw pads are made by jurid & textar so trawl my posts for more info on these & sourcing same.
Not suggesting anyone is looking at cheapest options but fwiw ( for anyone who may read this) I would avoid cheapo ebay deals with so called performance branded brakes unless you are very happy with what you are sourcing.

I like my pagid discs and pagid pads....bit of dust but pulls up well enough. They appeared to have a silver finish which went on the pad surface soon enough.
Bit of care on install and the vibration from the old ones I had was gone. Checked for smooth action and no notches to jar where ears of pads sit and polished with autosol metal polish the guide pins too
Now ordered some rears/pads from the same manufacturer from ECP
Couldn't find any handbrake shoes there though
25% off too at the moment
MGRORG25
or
pasfrd25
seem to work for your 25%

I have Zimmerman discs and textar pads on the front. Never had a issue with them.
I'll keep the Brembo discs and I think they sent me Jurid pads, just need to find time to put them on.
One question though, do I need to clean the disc's with break clear or just install them as is. The instructions that came with the disc's make no mention on cleaning the disc. Never did it when i put the Zimmermans on as it clearly said not to because of the coating ?
I'm sure I have read a guide that said to clean the disc with brake cleaner.

if that's what the guide says then why not do so.
Soapy water followed by a thorough rinse & total dry would do if no brake cleaner. Obviously aim is to carefully remove any surface contaminants.

The pagids on my front and the rears sat in the lounge are coated too. Twas a sunny day and I just washed them with saopy water and dried as above. There were no signs of grease or anything remotely like that though but dod it any way.
The pads wore off the coating where they touched within a mile or even less. Within 2 miles they looked perfect and grab miles better than the old ones did
