Pics of latest mods

Post by JimmySpeed » Tue Aug 02, 2011 10:07 pm

My previous picture effort was weak, I must admit. In order to apologize to all, I have taken some better pics. I am no Nigel Barker, but I have tried harder this time

Mods are simple:
skid plate
cleared headlights
silver bulbs all round
LED sidelight bulbs
LED rears
colour coded washer jet grilles & roof rails
colour coded grille surrounds (with normal titanium slats)
LED number plate bulbs
10" sub & amp
I also have a factory refurbished widescreen monitor on the way

Thanks, you don't see many skid plates on e53's on the road which makes them that little bit more attractive as a mod

I have only just realised that this is the totally wrong place for this thread - I have reposted it in the general forum

Mate, what have you done to the headlights? Are they OEM Xenons? They look fantastic if they are the OE ones.

Yes they are just OE xenons. You just heat the edges of the unit with a hairdryer till the adhesive softens, pull the lens covers off and remove all of the plastic filters etc inside. This is what you're left with.

The light pattern of the xenons is identical to before because the projectors are still there, the other lights are exposed bulbs but within metallic reflectors as you can see, so basically just like more modern cars.

This only works on cars built before a certain point in 2002 or 3 IIRC, because BMW changed the adhesive that they used to seal them. The new stuff can't be undone.

I just threw in a 10" Vibe active sub with built in sub that I got for pennies on ebay. I would have liked a hidden enclosure in the space where the DSP sub would be, but my air suspension pump now lives there because I have a LPG conversion. Turned out that the vibe was a good choice - its not big at all, its not ugly and responds well to rumbling bass and thumping bass so I'm happy.
