Hankook tyres...
Re: Hankook tyres...
I got Toyo's fitted and balanced for £670. Almost half the price of the Michelins and I'm happy so far.
Also filled them with 100% Nitrogen for £4.

Re: Hankook tyres...
Just to reinvigorate this thread for a moment,
I had my 20s fitted yesterday, new tyres all round via blackcircles.com so that's 275/40/20 and 315/35/20. Went for Kumho tyres as a matched set - couldn't get Toyos (would have been my preferred choice) in an matching set, could get Toyos of both sizes, but different types of Toyo.
So anyway, Kumho X3s all round, and I have to say I'm impressed, the road noise my old Bridgestones on the 19s gave has all but gone; so have to say, I'm very impressed.
Fitted and balanced @ £690
oh yes, and the car looks brill with the 20s on...

Just to add to what others have said im running Toyo Proxes too 275 and 315/35/20 and id never go back to diamiaris now, much much quieter and they do hang on when needed, Thats just my opinion but the best tyres ive personally experienced on an X5

Re: Hankook tyres...
Just about to fork out on a set of Toyo's after hearing constant praise. I have always kept the Diamaris going but after only getting about 9k out of my last set of rears which cost £630 I have got nothing to lose by giving Toyo's a go!

9K????
I was going to try the Toyos on my 4.8, but have managed to get Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas for £550 all round, fitted, so I'm very happy - managed to get rears via a small local tyre dealer for £198 each fitted, and found some 5-6mm slightly used fronts, no repairs, guy changed to a different tyre, for £130 as a one-off and £10 fitting. Pleased with that but hope they last more than 9K..........

Re: Hankook tyres...
Well just to close the loop, I have opted for the hankooks in the end:
At least they are fairly hefty size wise so it at least feels like I'm getting something for all that money!!!
Sitting in the playroom now awaiting fitting... From what I've read these are longer lasting than the contis that are currently on it.
Mind you I think I will be swapping the rears from left to right at some point to even out the effects of the severe negative camber on the rear suspension.
750 euros delivered and will probably cost me another 50 to get fitted....

Re: Hankook tyres...
Shaunos, what wheels are these going on? Are they aftermarket?
I would watch your speed a little now when you get these Tyres fitted as your speedometer is going to be out by quite a bit from what it was... about 10% I think. Having the bigger profile gives it a bigger rolling radius.

tyres for le man exclusiv
i need to buy some tyres for mine - it currently has bridgestone 315 35 20 106w on the back and proxes 275 40 20 106w on the front.
Are these the correct sizes for a start? the profiles are different!!
Also the inside edge of the rear ns tyres is almost bald. Is it worth having the alignment/camber checked or is it par for course on these cars.
thanks

Re: Hankook tyres...
Correct sizes and yes definitely get that checked - not normal. You need an alignment but check worn bushes as this could be your issue instead of alignment.
Full KDS or GOOD 4 wheel laser alignment is best.

click here and search for local specialist to you. Same kit as KDS but fraction of cost compared to main dealer.

Bonerp... the profiles are not different.
The profile value is a percentage of the Tyre Width...
315 35 = 110.25mm
275 40 = 110.00mm
This is probably the closest match you would get with staggered width wheels.

Re: Hankook tyres...
Hi Turks,
Yes, the wheels are aftermarket (on the car when I bought it).
The tyres are currently 295/40/20 all round and I'm replacing them with 295/45/20 (approx 80euros a corner cheaper!).
The change in aspect ratio will mean a difference in wheel diameter of 1.5mm (circumference difference of just under 1cm) which will cause a 4% error in speed reading, but afaik most speedos over read by approx 5% anyway so my displayed speed will just be accurate now...
Cheers,
~Shaun.

Re: Hankook tyres...
I'm not sure if there is an allowance like that now since digital dash and that is why police allow 10% over the speed limit (actually 10% +2mph I think is the rule).
Anyway, just thought i'd mention it... sometimes something that gets forgotten. Kids that throw 18" wheels on corsas without thinking about what it does to the calibration of the odometer.
I think it is a little over 4% (more like 6.3%) from my calcs but I am using OEM sizes to calculate. 20ins wheel with 275/40/20's.
Cheers,
Turks.

Re: Hankook tyres...
Is the calibration against 19's / 20's any diffent, given the 19s run higher profiles tyres? From my experience using my GPS reader on the satnav as true speed compared to the speedo, the difference in this case is negligable. My speedo reads over by just under 4%.
