Rear Window Stopped working !! Is there no end ??!!

After just having spent circa Â£2000 on the ridiculous air suspension i finally managed to go for a drive in the car last night. However when i got home the N/S/R window would not work,up or down ! I instantly thought the regulator had gone out seeing as its a well documented problem. I needed to get the window back up so i stripped the door down to investigate. I could not see any damage to the clips etc so i tested the connection at the motor,it seemed that i wasn't getting any power at all there was no current draw (interior lights not dimming) from either the drivers door switch or rear door switch. I hunted round the forums and people talked about the general module,but usually there are many more things that would fail at the same time. Anyone got any ideas ??

Small update,the window now works again,but backwards !!! Pull the switch up and the window goes down and vice versa !!

So was it just the switch that was the problem of was it something else?

No idea to be honest,all i know is that the window is gonna be staying up from now on !!! Spoke to my indy about it,and he said he'd never heard of anything like that before. Fair enuff for a regulator or a fuse etc but for the switch to stop altogether and then all of a sudden start working backwards !!! The drivers window switch unit was brand new when i rebuilt the car so unlikely thats at fault. Going back to the indy tonight to have the suspension control unit swapped

so i'll see if theres any fault codes for the window !!

New suspension module fitted,job sorted. Rear window still up the wall and now fuel gauge has gone kaputt. Just put Â£25 in and fuel light has stayed on and range has dropped to 25 miles !! The next fuel i put in could be followed by a match !!!

2 senders in the bugger - one could be out of action (hopefully the cheaper one)!

Certainly mate,toffee apples are on me !! Just tried the car again and the gauge has returned to normal,with any luck its just a hiccup but knowing my luck recently it will need both senders, tank, fuel pump and anything else even remotely connected !!!

It might be worth seeing if the indy can do a full recode - as in reload the vehicles software in case the changes that have been made are causing the glitches between modules due to coding mismatches.

I know the later cars like mine can be done, so it may also be possible that the E53 can be as well. These are all sounding like hiccups that might be nothing worse than comms errors because of different versions of software/firmware on individual modules which then won't play nicely across the data bus.

Just a thought.......

i had same problem with rear passenger window
worked no and off all through warranty told by
dealers nothing wrong when it went in 2 years
later stopped completly indy tested relay stuck
open in basic module left it be.

Small problem where the convenience lockings concerned. Out of habit i always use this feature before i go to bed at night just to make sure everythings secure,only to be greeted by a very wet car in the morning !!! Doh !! Forgot about the window working backwards didn't i !! Car all locked up,all windows up bar the faulty one which had been down all night. Just my luck !!

Just a quick question, you mentioned you tested for juice at the motor, is possible the connector was reconnected backwards or the cables swapped as that would explain the opposite function of the window. The control modules only test for current draw to determine if the window is at full up or down pos so wouldn't know either way.
Just a thought.

Yeah the connectors on the right way,it only fits one way as far as i can see.
