Are Audi Q5 Drivers The Biggest C*C*S On The Road?

Post by Pewters » Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:29 am

Tbh driving nowadays is like dog eat dog on the road and every man for themselves.....if you leave a gap someones dives in, nobody acknowledges you, nobody indicates ect ect and imo its not particular drivers or cars it's everyone....Its just not nice on the roads in recent times.

I was coming from my parents Sunday afternoon and I had a guy just stop in front of me in a corsa, no indicator and it was on a nasty brow of a hill, as I crept past I glanced over and as i go past he jumps out of the car ranting and raving like I had just cut him up and it was my fault ......a typical day on the UK roads !!!!

I try not to be over defensive with my forward gap. On single carrageways I dont see overtaking as a sin & would expect to be able to move into a forward gap or allow someone else to do so, (though chances of them taking my safe overtake opportunity are rare). I try to only move up close when moving into the overtaking position behind the car ahead & just prior to executing an overtake or considering same when safe. Outside of this I try to keep back, it gives me a better view & a better safety margin. If making brisker single carrageway progress chances are that the only thing likely to pass me will be small & light,(usually on 2 wheels but not always).....I'm more than happy to allow faster sensibly piloted traffic to pass & safely drop in front of me. I frown on those who ), force others to stay out & with risk of collision.

I don't claim to be perfect & accept we can all make errors of judgement. It only takes one error, (perhaps with other outside factors), for things to end badly.

To be honest......I enjoy it.........coming back from Bluewater the other night.....a Q7 came onto the M25 at swanley and promptly came straight into the outside lane and proceeded to flash me.......must admit i was running at about 85 on cruise..........let him get settled....then pushed the gearstick left ....little bit heavier on the right foot and......Sorry what was that car behind me again.........cant quite make the speck out........i just love the 3.0sd........no other 4x4 comes anywhere near that engine.....
