Problem identifying correct fuse(s)

Hoping someone can help me with small electricxal situation on 2004 E53 3.0 D Sport - the hazards lights don't work when the switch is activated (both indicators working ok) - I noticed that the central locking button next to the hazards switch also wasn't working so have assumed for now that its a fuse for that part of the central console. I haven't had to replace a fuse on the X5 before so got out the handbook and identified the fuse box location in the glove compartment. The fuses there are all numbered with their rating and a chart states the fuse number for the relevant component along with the fuse rating. The central console is shown as three different fuse numbers - my question is how do I find the specific fuse number I'm looking for as I can only see the rating on each fuse?

And can the fuse be bought form your average car part place or bmw only (I'm guessing they are standard and widely available but you never know ....)

Fuses are standard and can be got from most motor factors etc.

You'll just have to pull each of the fuses and check them. It could be the plug on the back of the switch though, might be loose? I think I have also read in a few places that the switch unit itself can go faulty. I would expect there to be a circuit for the hazard lights and another for the locks. Centre console fuses may be for lighting, fag lighter etc.

You also have another fuse box in the boot.

Yep I've seen the fuse box in the boot but its not that one for this circuit as far as I can see.

I have to pulll every single fuse to find the blown one - seriously? Whats the point of them being numbered then on the chart - surely there is a number/location guide somewhere for the relevant one. I cannot believe I have to pull every single fuse to check

There is a chart in the glove box stating what each fuse is for

As Jap Scrap says, there should be a white card in the fusebox lid to tell you what is where. So you should not need to pull the lot as that would be a serious PITA
