Hi
Fitted some new mintex from and rear discs and pads but now the damn things squeak all the time. Driving up to 40 ish in straight line especially. Momentarily goes if brake lightly.
Fitted them about 3 weeks ago so they should have bedded in by now having done a good 500 miles on them.
Had off the fronts again and they are not sticking at all. Driving me potty. Any ideas - think I will be booking it in to a garage to look at as I don't have time or inclination to remove the wheels again.

Re: New brakes now squeaks
just thought - is it normal to replace the backing plates on the pads? I think the ones I took from the old pads were bonded so they had to be levered off...
However...just found an article that suggests (from 2003 mind...) that mintex dont come with shims. Might be the problem...

Re: New brakes now squeaks
Anti-squeal shims should be fitted, and possibly some Copper Grease.

Re: New brakes now squeaks
well I took the pads out again (3rd time) and checked them, chamfered the rear edge as there was a slight edge, cleaned everything brake cleaner and with wire disc on dremel, shims already bonded in place, applied more copper grease after cleaning the last lot off.
All worked fine until I pulled into work - squeak squeak squeak again.
I'm thinking maybe the mintex pads are slightly grabbing on the caliper slide - maybe slightly too big/different shape to BMW pads and causing them not to slide back properly off the brakes.
If this is the case I may need to get some BMW pads - any views?
How much would BMW pads be too?
I really am stumped now.
thanks
Paul

Re: New brakes now squeaks
See if the Mintex ones get better as they bed in. If you do get fed up with them then I think you can get something called a 'service value pack' or similarly named kit from your local dealer.
Or try Eurocarparts. I can't remember whether the OEM pads are reboxed Textar or Pagid, but it's one of them. Pagid are about £43 a set for front.
There may be a couple of other options that others have tried.
