Shunted at a junction.....

by an idiot woman in a red VW EOS..... quietly sitting at junction waiting for the lights to change (they hadn't) when all of a sudden......BANG!!! Leapt out trying not to swear in a most unladylike fashion, greeted by EOS driver wh was actually concerned about whether we were injured or not, give her her due,rather than damage to cars. Me: "What on earth were you thinking??" EOS driver: "I thought you were going forward". Me: But the lights were red!! Eos driver: Yes, but I thought they were changing!!

Hmm. Anyhow, she managed to come off quite badly considering the X doesn't even have a scratch on the bumper. The EOS bonnet was crumpled and the big round VW emblem had split in two from the impact, and it was quite new - a 59 plate, I think it was. Didn't seem to be one of those insurance scams, didn't fit that sort of profile. Luckily no damage to the X or any of the people concerned!!!

We had just returned from a Channel Island trip (work-related) - I was amazed to find that the max speed on the island (went to Guernsey) was 35mph - however, saw loads of local X5s there - counted at least 20 while driving around in a day or two on local roads. Didn't take the car, made more sense to fly from the Midlands and rent a car there. Can't be much fun having a BMW and only being able to drive at 35mph (or 25mph in built-up areas) ALL he time!!!!!

bad luck - are you 100% sure there is no damage to yours, even under the skin/bumper?

Yes I would get it properly checked, it can be quite a surprise what hidden damage there is.

I would be very surprised if there is no damage to your X. Like the others say i would get it checked for unseen damage like bumper supports etc...

All seems ok - everyone was stationary at the junction and the EOS was very close behind so didn't get much of a run in to bash the X. Everything working as it should at the moment and no sign of any damage to the bumper supports. Lucky.

Not great on your new car.

Point to not is that hairline scratches can develop later, so keep an eye open. I have never seen a contact with no damage at all.

My old man was bumped in a car park once
Luckily person left details even though there was no visible damage

Dad looked and couldn't see anything. Car was in garage a couple of days later and asked them to look anyway. Headlight brackets bust. Needed new headlight which cost £500 15 years ago.

I'll make sure its checked out, there are one or two very minor things that need doing so it'll have to go in shortly anyway.
