How Much Do You Pay For Your Warranty?

Post by as400 » Wed Jun 22, 2011 4:24 pm

Warranty Direct seem the best of a dodgy bunch, but what people pay seems to vary according to your negotiating skills!

So what level of cover do you have and how much are you paying?

Or are you of the "its not worth the paper its written on" type?

£17 a month with AA.
Was a continuation of the 6 month AA warranty supplied by the independent dealer when I bought it.

also considering a warranty, they all seem to do big items cover, engine, gearbox, diff, etc etc, but what about all the control boxes, modules electrical etc etc, yes ecu, but thats about all??

so looking for all electrical, all mech, I think would be the way to go, and your up against wear and tear, or Premature wear and
tear, so if your car is under 55 to 60 k, premature w and t, might be ok, with w w, 1 year or 2 year, but you pay a premium

I have had quotes from both, and the later might be the best,,

If 2 of us or more got to gether, might get a better deal with w w,
just pm me, for further--------------

I think renewed at 375, mines 2002 with 92k on the clock, first year was 400 with no claims. Just had an injector replaced with approval, bill was 400 will prob get back 300. It's a percentage of labour and parts depending on age etc. I'm just waiting for the turbo to go then I'll get my money back. If I had it when the gearbox went it would have saved 1500. I see the expense as an addition to my insurance premium, don't know how long I'll keep it. Knowing my luck I'll cancel it and then something will happen. Ayat

Tell me about it
had a wd policy on audi, with mot cover, failed mot on safety belt klick? wd said do not cover this on mot failure, so I did not renew the policy, Then dual mass flywheel went, took out the starter motor, and cracked the gearbox, result £3k. I was afraid to go out in it after, must have taken me a good couple of months to turn the key ,, just a bad hair day!!

£1200+ this year.

BMW Warranty and for me so far has been worth every penny.

£0 for me - declined extending the BMW AUC Warranty a year and a half ago for £1400 so the notional sinking fund has £2,100 in it.
No major problems - fingers crossed.

Same here I declined the £1400 renew 12 months ago. Mind you I had thousands done in the first years AUC including using their MOT fail guarantee and the BMW assistance. I'm living by the seat of my pants at present :-(. I've had drop links, Webasto replacement, both CV joints, radio module, electric folding wing mirrors, re programming for self levelling suspension fault and corroded window/door trim covered under the first AUC warranty :-) oh and almost forgot free service and oil change for one of their previous errors :-)

WD on both the E46 and E53. Due to vehicle age some of the items are no longer covered, but the key mechanicals are. £450 this year, each. X6 new, so under BMW warranty.

I pay £135 a month for BMW warranty which is fully comprehensive. On the 4.8 AA wouldn't cover and with WD I just felt there wasn't enough coverage and the decrease in what they payout in the event of a claim.

Just checked and mine is £128 a month.

Raj, would the Warranty company not get upset with you changing your Induction? I have always been afraid to modify the car in case it is used as an excuse not to pay out...

Tbh I have a very good relationship with my dealer so if they can cover it they will.

The thing is they will only not cover items if it is proven that the failure was as a direct result of one of the mods.

Of course if I had a problem I'd just put the old box back on...lol

Yeah, I suppose with a mod like the Air intake you could always put the original one back on. I was tempted by the X Pipe a while back and the cutting and welding was what put me off in the end as this can't easily be changed... not that you should have any problems after the Cats but you never know.

I've just been offered £1098 renewal of my BMW Warranty with no excess payable - around £100 a month - which I'll be taking up, like Turks its the 4.8is and minor items like Panoramic sunroof cassettes and valvetronic levers spring to mind as do the oil cooler event from Xmas eve, the endless parking senors and the Bluetooth module from last year......I decided to go the full warranty way this year again.
