Brake noise,

Post by warost » Tue Jun 14, 2011 8:18 pm

Hi Guys,

I have a 3.0i on a 53 and before anyone starts taking sharp intakes of breath dont bother I love it, hardly do any miles these days so fuel dont bother me and it has enough power for me, thats that covered eh, now onto the brakes, just had the front discs and pads changed but they are making a terrible scraping noise, I have done a few hundred since the change so they should have bedded in but this noise is nasty when the window is open, the brakes are as sharp as lee evans so Its just the noise driving me mad.

Any ideas would be gratefully accepted.

Stu

Did you have OEM parts, or 'performance' parts fitted by any chance? Any sign of damage to the disc surfaces - will need a mirror to check the inner faces. Is it coming from the front or the back? Could be that something has not been assembled correctly, or is broken. Does the steering 'pull' to one side?

Also you may need to bed them in.

Have a look at the procedure at www.zeckhausen.com
