E70 X5wheels on X6

Post by beemarman » Wed Jun 08, 2011 4:49 pm

Just wondered if the wheels from a 2007 X5 fit my 2008 X6?

The alloys are type 215 from an X5.

I think the center bore is different, but some mod's it will work.

Yup, centre bores are different so you need adapters

Yup the E70 X5 has same centerbores front and rear which match the centrebore of the X6 front hubs but the X6 rears are smaller and require hub rings to fit, usually loads on ebay, I'd recommend the alloy ones that have a small champher flange as this stops the ring falling into the wheel hub ...

I've been EBay watching since January for a set of potential 19" winter wheels to come up for my X6 40d. This has included watching for E70 wheels as they only require a 20 quid set of hub rings to fit the X6 and not the full spacers etc. However, a set of X6 winters just came on from a BMW dealer, unmarked, with a roundtrip to Italy on them @ 1750 and my offer of 1500 was accepted. I plan to get them (19" with 255/50 winter rubber) sprayed matte black to contrast my Alpine White car.
If it helps your quest, the average E70 wheel set has been going for around 600 quid; add in the 100 quid a corner refurbs of kerb marks (full strip down, repaint and lacquer with 12 month warranty), and the nigh on 1000 GBP winter rubber if req'd.

Ouch! I paid my dealer £500 for a full set of 19" and tyres with no use on them. Tyres went on the E53 and new Winter's on the 19's. Dealers are getting greedy!!

I guess we'll be thinking about swapping to Winter rubber afore long too. :?

Them winter boots are the expensive part. Runflat Blizzards are around a grand from mytyres. I would have dumped any part worn summer tyres from EBay wheel deals (unless they had more than 4mm on them and could have been sold off seperately).
