Hi,
Had my 56 plate 3.0diesel sport for a wee while now & my previous mobile (Sony Ericsson) was great with bluetooth kit in car. This is the OE equipment as part of the comms kit. My 5 year old daughter thought it was really funny to join in with phone conversations whilst in the car!! Anyway i recently changed my phone for an HTC desire HD & although i can get them to 'pair' no problem the car just keeps saying 'Please wait!'.
I'm appealing to the X massive - any ideas?
Once again thanx in advance guys.
Cheers, Martyn.

Leave the Sony in the car with another sim card in. When you drive, make sure you forward all calls to the mobile number of the sim in the Sony. Problem solved although not ideal.

Re: Pairing BT with HTC
Martyn this issue of the OBC showing "Please Wait" is not unusual for some of the new generation phones, my wife has the same problem with her Nokia E7 which has the new generation Symbian OS, whereas my iphone works perfect
I believe the problem here is a technical one in which the phones bluetooth platform isn't seamlessly compatible with the X5's BT receiver, and hence the OBD shows "Please Wait" whilst it's trying to synchronise the contacts on your phone.
There are a few things you can try:
a) Copy all your contacts on to the sim (as opposed to the phone memory), switch on "Remote Sim" if you have this functionality on your phone. Delete any existing pairing(s) and try pairing the phone again
b) If the above fails, try accessing the options on one of your contacts and choose "Send as Business Card", if the phone gives you the option of how you want to send the business card choose Bluetooth. Phone will then search for the X5 BT and attempt to send the contact details to the X5 on board computer. If this works you will have to repeat the process for all contacts on your phone
c) Failing that, see if HTC have any support on this matter. Nokia have this dedicated software for care phone kits named Nokia Download Contacts which usually fixes these issues - HTC may have something similar
Apologies if my tips are a little vague, I'm going on experience of trying to fix the same issue with my wife's Nokia (still not working 100% yet!)
Fenj66 - the common reason for dropping BT link is because the pairing process may not have completed fully. Apparently, when you go through the steps for the pairing process (i.e. hold down button for 3 seconds whilst ignition is at 0, turn ignition to 1 with button still held, pair phone etc) after having successfully paired the phone you must switch the ignition back to 0/zero for the system to complete fully. I had the same problem with my old Nokia and doing this fixed the issue.
Hope this helps

Re: Pairing BT with HTC
My Desire HD will pair OK with my 04 Facelift but will not download the contacts. Other than that it seems to work OK.
In my Jag I have a Parrot 3100 and that will pair and download contacts OK. The one thing that it doesn't like is if a number is stored with a +44 prefix. The Parrot just will not dial it. If I take out the +44 it works fine.
Personally I hate the HTC with every fibre of my body and would go back to my BB Bold 9000 in an instant. SWMBO now has that so I'll never get my grubby mits on it again. Of course that pairs and downloads it's contact list to the X5 and works seamlessly.
