Part number needed (Rear seat electric backrest switch)

Post by X MAN » Sun May 22, 2011 9:27 pm

Hey guys, hoping someone can help . As the title says need the part number for rear seat electric backrest switch.
There are 4 switches for electric rear backrest, 2 in the D pillar and 2 fitted in the C pillar (pre-facelift, fitted in
rear overhead panel) . I need the part number for the switch fitted in the C pillar panel. I have tried part numbers
61 31 8 357 208 and 61 31 6 900 819 neither fit the C pillar however one does fit the D pillar .

I`m retro fitting this option to my car hence why absent of switches , hoping some kind soul on here with this option can pull out
the switch and read of the part number for me .

Pictures below show C pillar panel fitted with flat frame surround item No 7 in the above link and push fit plastic clip
near the top that holds the panel to the car

Location of the part number on the switch may require the switch to be unplugged to see the part number.

Pictures of plug the switch fits to below

Any help very much appreciated and many thanks in advance

I have the option but I have 2 switches in the rear roof light cluster and 2 in the boot. Which one do you want as I don't understand c and d pillars.

Mine is the same. (pre facelift) Two switches in the central overhead light console and two just inside the tailgate on the D posts. There are no switches on my cars C posts adjacent to the seat belt anchor point as the trim you show has :?

Thanks guys for your replies.

Pre facelift cars these switches are fitted in the rear roof light panel and this is the switch i need. On facelift cars
the switches are fitted in the C pillar/post panel or were the rear seat belt anchor points are as sapphireblack
mentioned above.

Although location of switches from pre facelift to facelift is different the plug connector in pics 3 and 4 above should be
the same and hopefully the switches fitted in the rear roof light will also be the same .

Any info very much appreciated.

If you're confident the pre and post facelift switches are the same, then my chassis number identifies switch #6, which confirms your thoughts.

Much as i'd like to confirm that physically, tbh, i'm loathe to strip down the overhead console to get to the switch itself.

I was under the impression that the switches were all the same... they certainly look like it in mine anyway - also they look very much like the Window switches in the E39 and E46.

Can you not just take one into the dealers and get them to order one? Price wise I don't think they would be that much and I think there would be little scope in trying to get a saving by going elsewhere! Not enough to waste any time looking anyway.
