I will be attemting to install 2 digital headrest screens to my electric comfort seats, I have read numerous posts suggesting it cant be done!
I will post pictures of install shortly.
I have 2 HD 9" screens to fit, I will let you know how difficult/easy it is to do. I would like to keep the electric adjustment for headrests..

Re: DVD HEADRESTS IN COMFORT SEATS
I had headrest screens in my 530d that had comfort seats so it should be possible. But 9" screens are quite large. Good luck but should be all good.

Re: DVD HEADRESTS IN COMFORT SEATS
Is there a proper valid reason as to why BMW say it can't be done, or is it just another of those things that they actually don't want to do so it goes in the 'too hard' bucket? All I can think of is that the shape of the headrests as they are designed for a non-screen application will not accomodate a screen, but surely they could just be changed to a different version if displays were needed/specified by a customer?
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: DVD HEADRESTS IN COMFORT SEATS
All done, Just returned from a trip to Euro Disney! Worth every penny!!
I have installed 2 XTRONS 9" DVD headrests with the help of Dave at http://www.acesdvds.co.uk If anyone wants to install headrest dvd's it's worth speaking to this fella... I purchased a set of 16" poles in readiness to fit to the X5, I can explain the install in detail! He really is a top bloke, I cant recommend him enough!
Here are some pics;
Simply raise headrest, forcefully pull upwards on headrest and it will come out. Remove seatback covers x 4, install headrests & looms, 16mm poles required, use insulating tape to pack out posts to stop rattle/movement between posts, feed wiring through seat and connect FM signal wire, Power & Earth and the Composite cables, link each headrest if required and and external feed, I have used my VEBA freeview. Once installed fit each post to the headrest lifter(PM for further detail) and tape to post. The headrest will not list as far as it would originally as headrest will touch headlining.
The headrest kit I used was purchased on Ebay from Atlas Car sys, recieved next day! I used 9" screens, some say 7" is preferable due to size of headrest, The headrests are fairly similar in size anyway, 300mm in width, 220mm in height and 150mm thick, the 7" just have an additional surround. You choose!
I think the comfort seats accommidate larger headrests nicely.
Hope this post is of use, PM for further info if req...

Re: DVD HEADRESTS IN COMFORT SEATS
You can fit screens into the oe comfort headrests but it is a bit of a pain. But they are really nice and I do like the zip cover to hide them away.
Re: DVD HEADRESTS IN COMFORT SEATS
i believe that i have the sport version of the seats in my X5 so am i able to add these monitors to them or do i have to purchase a comfort head rests to proceed?

Re: DVD HEADRESTS IN COMFORT SEATS
If you have sports seats then your headrests will be OK. IN the seats in the pictures above the OP has inserted sports headrests with DVD screens into the top of the comfort seat. The comfort seat headrests are a completely different shap and smaller. HTH
