Spot Fines for bad driving..........

Post by X5Sport » Wed May 11, 2011 10:33 am

It's possibly a good idea, but just who is going to actually be out there to enforce the rules and issue the fines?

They were supposed to crack down on people driving using mobile phones and yet I see people on their mobile all the time while driving.

One thing that made me laugh was the comment made about undertaking, the fact that if people actually used lanes properly no one would actually be able to undertake. The M2 and A2 is a nightmare for people hogging lanes at 55mph, so its no wonder some people undertake. Obviously undertaking is dangerous, but seriously if they would show people how to use the roads properly, then things maybe a little bit better and less dangerous for everyone.

Exactly.
As long they fine Middle Lane Morons and the truly clueless who can't indicate, then I'll be happy. :fuelfire:

All legislation should be enforced fairly - of course anyone can elect for court proceedings in disputed cases.

Traffic Police might gain more support if seen to be spending a little more, (non collision related), time dealing with bad driving.

Historically it's been far quicker for a traffic officer to issue a speeding ticket than to report someone driving badly for summons.

A ticket option should make it just as quick to deal with a bad driver as it would with someone speeding.

As to whether its easier or more ethical to instead try to catch someone for a minor speeding offence, (in abscence of supporting casualty evidence factors), is of course a totally different question.

Re "Money Making" the insurers seem to do quite nicely from minor speeding endorsements - "Double Jeopardy" & some !

The point of "undertaking" is a very difficult one to prove unless the car is deliberately swerving in and out of lanes.

Just came back via the M25, and I "undertook" loads of cars as I was in the left lane doing 70-ish whilst the overtaking lanes were full of people doing 55-65 :x
