Sureterm Renewal
Sureterm Renewal
Hi Guys
Thought I would share this with you. A big fa
t letter came through the letterbox Saturday morning from Sureterm Direct. opened it and choked on me toast, price for the renewal.
Last year it came in at £693.00 F/C 9+ NCD plus the missus added. This year they have quoted me, wait for it......................£3638.51
Got on the phone and was told that the insurers that they use for X5's have taken it off their list and this is the best that they can do through another insurer, and if I was still going to renew in which I replied " me thinks not"
Spent all of the weekend and today trying to find a much cheaper quote and the best I could find was £971.65 with Admiral and believe me, I have contacted everyone out their and this is the cheapest I could find, so decided to go with them. Has insurance really gone up that much
P.S came home from work this evening to find another letter from Sureterm stating that "failure to contact them before renwal date will result in your policy being lapsed and therefore no cover being in place"

Re: Sureterm Renewal
Bringing up an old topic, but my last x5 was insured with sureterm 2 years ago for 600 per year .... I have had a quote for another x5 I'm looking at buying and it came back at, wait for it.... One MILLION pounds!
My brother in law has his RR vogue with sureterm at 700 a year.
At the moment the cheapest quote I can get is nearly 1700!!
Absolute madness!

Re: Sureterm Renewal
I've decided that I'm not going to insure mine any more, or tax it, or mot it, I'm also going to wear my jeans halfway down my arse, or very baggy Tracky bottoms, lots of bling, cap on backwards, and drive like I stole it.
Don't worry, if I ever did get stopped, and obviously I would make them chase me first at stupid speeds and probably across country, then I would only get some community service, or released without charge.
Of course I haven't got a problem with this sort of thing

Re: Sureterm Renewal
You forgot the frequent use of 'innit' in your post........
I'm insured with Aviva for £580 on the X6. The E53 was approx the same.
The E53 is in the top 5 'most vandalised cars' for 2011 which won't help premiums (probably all the stolen mirrors). Strangely the Fiat 500 is at No 1....

I'll try Aviva... Doesn't help that I live in Liverpool.

Aviva can't give an online quote... I need to call.
I'm 31, 5 years no claims, no claims, no convictions. Looking to insure a 2003 4.4 with no mods.
Can it be so hard to get insurance?

Re: Sureterm Renewal
Going by your age etc. it must be something else that's ramping up the price, postcode/ where you leave it/your job, are you limiting the mileage, this sometimes makes a difference.

Postcode is North Liverpool, parked on my driveway, limited to 8000, I'm a freelance IT Consultant... So I've tried it consultant, analyst, Company Director...
Nothing has changed, for the worse in 5 year.... It's crazy.
If I buy a range rover I will get it insured for next to nothing through sureterm!

Re: Sureterm Renewal
Looking at it, I would think that your postcode and being self-employed are not helping, but I am sure you should be able to get it better than what you have said, not sure about your marital status, but it sometimes reduces it if you have a named driver on the policy, ( obviously they will have to be over a certain age as well ).
How they work it out is a mystery sometimes.

Re: Sureterm Renewal
Sureterm do seem to have a problem with X5's. SWMBO's P38 Range Rover is with them at £185 Fully Comp on a 5000 miles policay with full NCB. Tried to insure the new X5 and they wanted circa £1500.
Talked to current insurer for my 535< LV, and they were very competitive for the X5 but insisted on a tracker. It would have cost £300+ for the tracker so got a £189 refund from LV and insured the X5 with Admiral for £368, no tracker required. Result.

Sureterm Renewal
Are Direct Line not quoting sensible stuff? I paid 365 for my 4.4 with a tracker fitted. Also self employed IT consultant; car on drive.

Re: Sureterm Renewal
£1840 with direct line!
Re: Sureterm Renewal
Of all the checks I did at last renewal the cheapest were my current and Saga (who I now qualify for.. ). Every other quote was high (£800-£900) and reading the press recently it looks like this is becoming a common theme.
We did go with Admiral for a while with their multi-car policy, but when we took one off the road, they refused to insure it and whacked up the premiums, so they lost the business. Admiral also said it was impossible to get 'lay-up' insurance! Complete spheroids! Got cover in less than an hour of looking. Just over £100..
