Ceramic Applique iDrive controller

Does anyone know if it is possible just to change the controller knob for one with the black/dark grey ceramic coating applied, or does the entire controller assembly have to be replaced?

A number of the models now coming out have this option and I think it looks very smart. Just wondered if it's a simple swap or whether major surgery is needed?

Do you mean the same as ceramic option on 7 series? I would hope they sell separate but you never know ac schnitzer do a controller knob (ugly) which seems to be sold by itself.

Yes it is the same as the 7er and the new 6er. There are no parts shown on Realoem except as a complete unit, and not for the E70 or E71 at all I like em, and just wondered what's possible.

Looks like a visit to the local Parts Dept is needed. I sure don't want the whole module though. That is likely to be mortgage time!!

The ac schnitzer ones is just a cover so that part is different sorry, I would be surprised If unit not the same just seen this part on ebay Item number: 160572117917 would it need coding if changed?

I do think the ceramic version on Dark Bamboo would look very nice. There do appear to be some subtle differences in the construction though. Screw mount holes are in different places
