Parking sensors not working, can someone please help?!

Post by Roy2593 » Mon Apr 18, 2011 10:50 pm

Hi all,
I have just noticed that my parking sensors have stopped working.
When i put it into reverse there is a loud continious bleep for about 2 seconds and the green light flashes on the switch!
I have listened to the sensors and each one has the clicking noise, but one of the front ones is quieter than the rest! They are clean and dry! Nothing happens when someone stands in front of them when in reverse.
I dont know what it could be, can anyone suggest anything?

Many thanks,
Roy

Hi my sensors did the same. I listened and 2 of them were quieter than the rest. The long beep then the green light flashing. I had bought a scanner to read the fault codes beforehand and it confirmed what sensors were faulty. Again it was the front ones. They decided when they wanted to work. If you can try and get the codes read and it will tell you what one is faulty. You can get the replacement parts from ebay. There is a few threads on here about the PDC. I now only have the rear sensors working at the moment which is better than nothing. Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for your reply.

I have read somewhere you can stop either the front or rear from working by taking the appropriate plug from the PDC module.

I have located the module and have tried taking the front and then the rear plug out but neither of them work seperately.

Do you guys think its the quiet sensor at the frnt? If so how do i go about changing it without taking the bumper off? Is it possible?

Thanks,
Roy

Hi,

Did it come up with the same sensors being faulty as the ones that were quieter?

Thanks,
Roy

Hi what i can remember it was the quiet one. It was me that has stopped the fronts working. I removed the blue plug lhs looking in the boot. Then I used the scanner that I have to reselect the sensors from 8 sensors to 4 sensors. Plugged the blue plug back on and the fronts no longer worked and allowed the rears to work. All the sensors seam to work in a loop. Which is a daft. I believe the front bumper removal is covered on the forum. I have not tried but understand it's a pain. Good luck.
