BMW Scanner 1.4

Hi
Hoping someone can help me - I bought a scanner via the buy/sell forum page fro a chap on here. It came with lead and disk. In theory it should be plug and play but i just cannot get the drivers to install (even though I have downloaded them) - he has tried to help but its not that easy via email. Can someone help me get this going? Perhaps someone has a disk that I could borrow or get a copy of ?

what software are you running on the computer?
mine ran ok on xp.

have tried three latops - windows 7, vista , XP -none have worked so far

I've got it working fine on my Windows 7 (32 bit) netbook.
Did you plug the cable in to the X5 before you installed the drivers?
I seem to remember I had to go in to device manager and force the drivers on with the cd in the drive.

ok, ........so being no technical , how do I 'force the drivers on the with the cd in the drive' ?

already been there - the second step -I dont get the green light saying the drivers are installed - i get a red light saying they are not isntalled

Did you then go in to device manager and update driver with cd in the drive? (selecting the option where you install the driver from a specific location.
