Hi Guys
Ever since I installed Dvd, Parrot Bluetooth and Freeview I'm getting an Alternator whining noise coming out of the front door tweeter speaker.
Any thoughts on how to get rid?
Thanks
Michael

Re: Alternator whining noise
Always down to bad earthing. Check where you have earthed to. Scrape the paint away, not just connect to bolt hole. Make the earth as short as poss.
Got anything like ground loop isolators in place (should be last ditched effort though). Before that, make sure all cables that run to audio are 'away' from positive cables, or near battery.
This is a right PITA clueso job but can be eliminated with time and patience...

Cheers Sanj
So I just check to see if all earth cables from all components are touching to bare metal?
Thanks

Re: Alternator whining noise
Yes. Any 'contaminant' will raise the resistance of the connection which could lead to something earthing via a different (and longer) path and that can lead to the issue. As Sanj suggests, all cobtacts should be clean and 'metal to metal'. In some areas of the vehicle BMW provide multiple earth connector plates with fingers onto which the earths go.
