IPOD/IPHONE OPTIONS

Post by clats » Tue Apr 05, 2011 10:28 pm

Hi everyone I have a CD changer in the rear as standard but like most people these days I very rarely use or buy cd's.

what are my options i have an iphone 4 and an older ipod which i use with all my music on.

I dont mind losing the disc changer. I have seen people with the iphone i the centre arm rest etc. That would be ideal but I am not bothered if its in the glove box etc as long as it charges whilst its playing.

Ideally id like something to connect my iphone as I would be using the bluetooth off that for the phone function etc

any links be great but please remember I am useless with stuff like this so any suggestions etc please keep them simple lol

Hi,
Call me low tech, but I have answered all of your queries above (bar the charging) by buying a Sony cassette adapter from amazon, (originally for personal cd players into cars,) plugs in the headphone socket, goes in the cassette deck, plays near as dammit cd quality sound, call comes in stops the music, I talk, person on the other end talks through the speakers, call ends, music resumes and barring a slight echo now and again, it is fully hands free with no wires showing ( tucked in to dash trim and footwell carpet) and all for the princely sum of £10! I thought I'd try it as a temporary measure but it works so well I don't feel the need to change it, can still play CDs in the changer as well, and according to the old 'customers who bought this also bought' section, you can charge with a belkin cig lighter adapter anyway,
Just food for thought maybe?

I could be wrong but think that you may well like me have a cassette
Deck behind your nav screen which folds down
When you press the little button with an arrow
Somewhere in the top right area near the screen, it then
Folds down motorised to reveal a cassette deck, or maybe
Single cd player if your unlucky? If you do have cassette, this
Is what I bought http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00007E ... 40-8425619
It had the best reviews (believe it or not there are even cheaper ones
Out there (Argos/halfords etc) but I thought it's so cheap anyway
It's better to get the best one. Whilst a real audiophile might be a bit
Dissapointed by the sound, I thought it was fine, and my wallet liked
It even more! If you aren't happy, at least it only costs pocket money, and you
Can throw it on the bay and get enough for a mcdonalds meal! Hope
That helps.

Hi,

I bought one of these cassette adaptors today, primarily for my 1988 Porsche which has the original Blaupunkt cassette radio, it works a treat in the 911 but when I tried it in the X5 the sound is very quiet ? You can turn it up & it sounds ok but if you switch to the radio or CD without turning the volume down first it blows your head off !

Hi Phil,
Did you get the Sony one? I ask as I havent had any problems and i read that it has
Better tech in terms of noise reduction, if we are Honest here it may have it's limitations,
As it is a budget solution that punches above It's weight considering the cost, but despite
That it may be that your problem is the fact that both the iPod volume and the cars volume
Both increase the overall volume, you may have to play with the two until you get it to a similar starting
Point as the other sources (radio always seems louder to me), ie try lowering iPod volume first then
Slowly increase cars volume until acceptable starting level is found.hope this cures the problem.
