TV and bluetooth new owner

Post by clats » Tue Apr 05, 2011 2:32 pm

Hi everyone I bought a 54 plate 3.0l d last week and so far love it. I drove it 200 miles home and it averaged 42mpg motorway driving all the way at 70mph which I thought was amazing !!!!

The car has full comms pack but I cant seem to get any picture from the tv. Also I CANT CONNECT MY IPHONE 4 VIA THE BLUETOOTH ! I have followed the manuals but no luck ?

Is the tv issue due to the analogue/digital thing ? If so is there any way of converting to digital and what sort of price would it be ?

Regarding the phone I have tried pressing the button in the centre arm rest which says to activate phone and then turned the ignition to the relevant positions but still nothing ?

Hope its nothing major !

Apart from that I love the car, its been averaging 29/30mpg all week around town. Its black with black which was my favourite colour and a decent 68k on the clock with full history and all previous mot's to confirm !

Any advice/tips would be much appreciated

Sorry just a quick further question.

I have been browsing the forum and have seen people with their iphones in the centre console. do they have to be in there in a cradle for the bluetooth to work then ? I thought the phone could be anywhere i the car with the bluetooth on for it to work.

The OEM digital TV module is expensive, £500 or their abouts, but is plug and play.

Did you press and hold the pairing button with the ignition off, then turn the ignition to the accessory position and release the button?

I just paired my new iphone 3gs yesterday:

1. hold voice button in centre console for 3 seconds with ignition off
2. after 3 seconds turn ignition to position 1 whilst still holding the button down
3. hold button for further 3 seconds ( that's 6 seconds total ) then release the button.
the small lights at the top right of the screen should flash ( all 3 of them )
and blue tooth pairing should appear on screen.
4. enter bluetooth code from vehicle into iphone

Voila, it should now be paired.

good luck

Thanks everyone and thanks for the welcome Sanj

kena thanks for the step by step guide I think I may have been doing it wrong as I started with the key in ingnition position 1 and not off ! I will try again in the morning and let you know. with regards to the code where would I find that ? If i remember rightly is the bluetooth code usually 1234 ?

Richard do u think its likely then that I need this oem module and that the reason I have no TV PIC is because of the digital issue. I am sure I read that all post 04 vehicles were set up for digital ?

I got a card with all my manuals that has the bluetooth code printed on it. If you don't have this I'm sure the code is actually printed on a sticker on the side of the bluetooth module itself. This module is located in the rear under the sat nav drive iirc.
With regards to the tv question it could be that yours is analogue and the analogue signal has been turned off in your area as they progress to digital.
The analogue in the northeast is being turned off in 2012 but some areas have already been switched off.

I have a 54 plate x5 and the digital tv works very well, maybe a faulty module?
Bluetooth passkey should be in you documents/manual wallet...if you can't find it try and find someone local to you with navcoder

ok cheers dirtymonkey, so I take it then the bluetooth code is entered on the car and not on my actual phone is that right ?

I think you enter it when the phone requests it.

Check the code on the unit though. Mine was changed from the one on the card. Its by the left rear compartment under the plastic panel in the boot.

The code is unlikely to be 1234, it should be printed on acard that is included with the vehicle documentation. If it's not, then it is printed on the side of the ULF module in the boot. You enter the passcode into the phone when you pair it.

The important date is the manufacture date and not the date of registration. Cars that were REGISTERED on 1st September on the new 54 plate will have the analogue TV module. Cars BUILT from 1st September 2004 will have the digital TV module.

as bonerp says, the phone will ask for the pass key, once entered it should come up on the car display "pairing complete"

I guess they were using up stock of the analogue versions, maybe the cut off should be for TV modules built after September 1st, not vehicles. Any one with a September 2004 car with analogue TV have NavCoder? You could confirm the TV module build date.
