Battery
Expired suddenly, so thought I’d only put that in 2 or 3 years ago so free replacement. I knew I had put the date fitted on the battery in permanent pen. Turns out it was fitted 24/04/21 with a five year guarantee. It lasted 5 years and 2 weeks. How time passes.

You must have had special ones.Alan Gunn wrote: Wed May 13, 2026 6:12 am Why does the factory fitted one last twice as long i would like to know.
None of my OEM fitted ones (or those fitted later) have done more than about 6 years even with battery conditioners to keep them healthier.

Had several over the years.
2000 e46 320d lasted 14 years
2002 e53 3.0d 10 years but might have lasted longer but car stood unused for 3.5 months so it got a new one.
2007 e90 320d 9 years
2014 f20 120d changed last year but never failed just piece of mind.
2015 f30 320d xDrive last month again for piece of mind.
The replacement varta that went in the e90 lasted 5.5 years and did fail me.
