UK source for some BMW leather

Internet searching seems to only offer US suppliers. Does anyone know a UK or EU source?

I'm looking for Nappa colour "chateau". Perforated would be a bonus. I'm wanting to retrim a steering wheel.

I can answer myself. One of the US names Google produced also has a UK business in Weybridge, Surrey, odd Google didn't tell me that?

Anyway, BMW don't have their own herd of moo-cows of course and the colour i seek just has a code reference. Samples are on route as i type. Priced at almost £200 for a half hide isn't exactly cheap, but if i pursue this at all i may get creative with the large balance of material.

You could do your dash too……second thoughts, getting that out and back in again!!!

I thought the dash but only very briefly. Cars with leather covered dash tops are pre sewn into shape. There's no way i could ever acheive that without a donor dash top section.

More likely would be to cover some other trim pieces, but that means dismantling door cards and other tricky areas. I think a custom steering wheel is an easier option, assuming of course the supplier has a truely matching leather?

Another banal thread for some i would imagine.

Regardless of being able to source an appropriate hide, (not so far) finding a steering wheel re-trimer who can replicate the M sport stitching design is also proving illusive.

Another project-modification looks like being consigned to the scrapped idea folder.

Not banal at all. Re trimming is of interest (to me at least) and as our cars age, becomes more important. It’s not just about styling or mods. Quality re-trimmers are hard to find and the good ones, harder.

Might be worth looking at some of the forums around say a 3/4/5 Series as those tend to get modded more often. There might be a clue for a good retrimmer there? I mean they must do more than just stick an M3 badge on a 316 after all….

The oddity of the E70/71 M Sport steering wheel is the curved stitching at the horizontal line. I got several flat rejections, with we can't help you, or similar words.
