Good morning and happy new year everyone.
Wonder if anyone could offer some advice??
My 2002 4.6is is throwing up the following fault codes…
P1161
P1159
P0443
Whenever the EML comes on at least 2 codes are showing but always p1161
1 of the codes apparently is to do with evap?? And the other point to potential air leaks.
Would anybody be able to offer some advice and maybe what parts I would need??
Thanks in advance
Chris

Fault codes 3 of them 🤬
P1161 is a fuel adaption error on Bank 2:
The P1161 code in BMW vehicles indicates a problem with the fuel trim adaptation additive high bank 2. This code is usually triggered when the engine control module (ECM) detects that the fuel trim values are outside of the expected range. Here are some of the possible causes of the P1161 code:
Faulty oxygen sensor: The oxygen sensor is responsible for measuring the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gases. If the sensor is faulty, it can cause the ECM to receive incorrect data, leading to a lean or rich fuel mixture.
Vacuum leak: A vacuum leak can cause unmetered air to enter the engine, leading to a lean fuel mixture. This can trigger the P1161 code.
Fuel pressure issues: If the fuel pressure is too high or too low, it can cause the fuel trim values to be outside of the expected range, leading to the P1161 code.
Faulty fuel injector: A faulty fuel injector can cause the fuel trim values to be outside of the expected range, leading to the P1161 code.
Faulty mass airflow sensor: The mass airflow sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine. If the sensor is faulty, it can cause the ECM to receive incorrect data, leading to a lean or rich fuel mixture.
Faulty ECM: In rare cases, a faulty ECM can cause the P1161 code to be triggered.
It is important to note that the P1161 code can have multiple causes, and a proper diagnosis is necessary to determine the exact issue. If left unaddressed, the P1161 code can lead to poor engine performance, reduced fuel efficiency, and potential damage to the engine. Therefore, it is recommended to have the issue diagnosed and repaired as soon as possible.
P1159 is the same error for Bank 1
P0443 suggests an issue with the fuel evaporation purge valve ‘A’ control circuit.

Fault codes 3 of them 🤬
Thanks for that
So where do you think the best place to start would be?? Maybe o2 and MAF?
