2010 E70 X5 - A6C9 Front Disk Wiper Blocked

My front windscreen wipers have been playing up.

At first I noticed they would stop higher than normal when coming to a stop.

Now, they stopped mid flight and wouldn't work until I turned off the ignition.

The following error code appeared:

A6C9 Front Disk Wiper Blocked

Then I noticed the motion of the wipers wasn't as previous, i.e. a quick wipe just kept on going!?

This sounds to me more of an electrical fault rather then a mechanical one.

Does anyone have any experience of this issue?
