The manual says to use BMW software to reset the adaption values. You may be able to do it with other diagnostic tools as well. I think a few changes have been done by other Forum users so try a search.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.-

Don't think i had to do anything when i changed mine but it was 5 years ago now and my car is getting on in years.
