I don’t believe that it’s just BMW. A colleague has just been quoted more than £400 for an ‘Inspection’ and oil change on their Škoda SUV. That’s more than they were paying on their 5-series. The Škoda has a smaller engine, simpler transmission and is much cheaper to buy. But.
Main dealer prices are rising because their franchise costs (to whichever car manufacturer they offer) are racing up as well. These dealerships have expensive premises and, from what I’ve seen, fewer customers. My local dealership chain have chased me 3 times in a month to come and talk to them about their great offers so I’ll buy another one. They’re getting desperate. I’ve already told them that their EVs are falling in value faster than a brick off a tower block. There is just no way that I’m going to take that kind of hit. Either BMW get their pricing better, or make cars that hold their value better….you know, like their ICE models. The response? Utter silence!
I paid £360 for a 4 years inclusive service plan for me i4. That same package is now £605. There’s little to nothing done apart from brake fluid and cabin filters, and a safety check.
My old local Škoda dealership switched brands because his sales target for the year was 300+ new vehicles. He’s in a small rural town and had absolutely zero change of hitting that. So he’s gone to one of the Korean brands.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
