I know there is signage, which i managed to miss. I got a fine today for non payment of the Majors clean air zone in Orpington Kent.
That will be £180 or £90 for a 14 day payment, increasing to £355 and possible vehicle confiscation WTF!!

Ouch! Thank the current Mayor for that little gift. We’re north of London and no longer travel south of the M25 other than in the electric car because the LEZ is just beyond the A1/M25 junction. If we get caught in traffic then I divert further out rather than inside the motorway.
We had to be careful with the X6 around Rouen in France in August because it also has a emissions zone where you have to not only watch for the signs, but also which emissions class the car is approved against. We had to get a sticker (think small tax disc) before we left as UK owners cannot buy them in France. Not expensive - about €5 - but then add toll roads that again operate differently (not automatic) close to Rouen and the fines would get expensive very quickly.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.-

As i suspected, appealing was a pointless exercise. The tone of the TFL response letter was bland, and had the feeling of being a standard reply. It was basically 'pay or else'
