The dealership strikes again.
Following on from ordering rear springs not fronts, they've done it again. Water drain channel broken during a brake fluid refresh. Parts ordered last week and were scheduled for fitment today, except they didnt. It seems someone ordered the windscreen scuttle panel, which was replaced, and fitted over old dirt and incorrectly.
I am at a loss as to how the wrong part gets ordered, and fitted, and fitted incorrectly at that.
Bloody useless is the politest thing i can say.
Broken drain channel trim. Vulnerable, weak maybe, but they broke it.
Scuttle trim replaced, over old dirt and incorrectly.

I'd like to inflict harm for sure. I'm not vindictive by nature, but this recent incompetence is intolerable.
Given the badge, the hype and their pricing its not acceptable, even if todays work is at no cost to me.

I’d be having some serious words with the Dealer Principal, Service Manager, Parts Manager and BMW UK as well. Maybe they’d like to explain their incompetence in the press as well. Of course getting BMW UK to show interest will be a win given their somewhat lacking levels of interest as others have found.

I have been dealing with the service manager, a nice chap always smiling and unfazed it would seem.
As an aside some of the sales guys here look imo, quite scruffy to be selling expensive motor cars. I would expect smart if not a suit. I think the overall business is American owned now. Maybe casual is cool?
As to my woes, i documented it in email, to the service manager (he's aware anyway) last night, and today, i have messaged a person i have dealt with previously. She is a manager who oversees three branches i think. Hopefully she will respond.
I'm not usually vindictive and the office staff are always helpful and willing. Where it goes wrong i dont know, maybe being in a separate, nearby building falls foul of out of sight, out of mind? I have actually met the workshop manager previously, too, and he seemed an 'OK' individual. If i dont have any response by Wednesday morning i will inform BMW. But all they will likely do is bounce it to the lady i have already contacted as they have done previously.
I don't plan to buy another car anyway, but if i did it would not be a BMW that needed dealership facilities. My experiences at Stratstone BMW Maidstone are, err, poor

At the risk of boring other members, after close inspection, the sticking up piece of windscreen trim only needed tucking under the existing A post rubber trim. It just took a few seconds. Who ever it was did this task simply doesnt care about their work. And the workshop manager doesn't check completed work either. Its all so disappointing.
As an aside i replaced the battery today, fiddly but not the hardest task the E71 has presented me with. It will be coded on Monday, so i won't be using the car in between.

As an addendum to the battery swap, i dont think this is resolved yet.
What lead to the battery replacement was twofold. The car flagged a high rate of discharge one morning, and two CTEK chargers defaulted at stage five, so i couldn't charge the battery externally. So it seemed logical to replace it.
Out of curiosity i put the removed battery on charge yesterday. .Upon returning to my garage this morning it is showing as fully charged with the positive green LED that CTEKs display.
So, my first thoughts are i didnt need the cost or hassle of replacing it yet, despite being seven years old. And the previous message from the car means there might still be an issue. And guess who has been into the electrical system, from the blown fuse that i created, yes the same dealership of course. When i take it to the independent techie for battery coding tomorrow, I'll see if he can scan it or pinpoint the issue. The car will have been idle for 48 hrs when i take it for battery coding. If it throws the same high battery discharge message, clearly something is wrong.

Does your newly fitted dash cam power down when you turn the car off? If it is on a permanent live then it may still be running and that could drag the battery down. Mine are all fitted to a switched live as well as permanent power as they have built in power (battery or super-capacitor) that provides power in ‘Parking Mode’ to record anything whilst the car is parked and off. When the ignition is switched off the camera stops and only restarts if triggered but only for a short period.
A CTEK charger would still be able to fully charge a battery though. The only real way to test will be to put an ammeter into circuit to see what power is being drawn (if any) and from memory, a dash cam should not pull very much. Something could be keeping the car awake and yes that will pull power down. Could be challenge to find though. Parasitic draws are known on BMWs (and others) and take time to find which circuit and then module is the culprit.
Having something powered on the OBD2 port has been known to keep cars awake, and a few years back BMW told me off for having a Road Angel connected to the glovebox USB port. The car had flagged it as a power draw even though it powered down when the ignition was off..
