Think its time for a battery

Post by sapphireblack » Wed Oct 08, 2025 5:39 pm

I routinely boost the battery with a CTEK when I know the car will be redundant for a few days.

First indications were when two different CTEKs defaulted at stage 5. And when i went out earlier the car flagged heavy battery drain. I could do without the hassle and the cost but the CTEK bible suggests the battery is failing. Existing is exactly seven years old and gen BMW crom when i bought the car

Is it Tayna? Yuasa? that everyone buys, where from and how do I determine which one?

Tayna is where I have bought the last few that I’ve needed. Specifically I have a Yuasa YBX 9019 ‘019’ AGM format on the X6.

That’s double Tayna’s price! £159.58 + delivery.

Any battery for the modern BMWs does need to be coded. Not immediately, but as soon as you can. Takes a couple of minutes to do.

Thats a more attractive price. I'll make an order in the morning

Looking at warranty periods, it seems seven years from the BMW branded battery is pretty good.

And looking at that list, Varta is a tad cheaper but has a longer warranty.

You can't go wrong with Tayna best prices i have seen.
I went to them years ago when i had a problem with a battery i had bought online and i thought it was faulty but the seller wasn't being helpful.
Tayna tested it over a 48 hour period and gave me a printed full report on the battery all for free.
They had lent me a battery while testing mine.
Got my money back and bought of them and had several since.

And so i have ordered a Varta for the extra years warranty. The guy at Tayna said Bosch and Varta are from the same factory. £162.36 delivered, plus a £20 cash job to code it to the car is a bit less than BMW want, no surprises there.
