Last time my Dealer made an error, they fixed it and gave a £50 voucher covering parts, service or MOT.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.-

Those pieces of trim round the scuttle fail all the time ,id guess they were literally hanging by a thread if anything like mine , they are very thin where they crack and let in water into the 2 rear injectors , later ones are thicker/have braces there to help it stop happening again , I did buy one new genuine one cost about 120 quid ,for a crappy piece of plastic but you can buy the set of 3 now from china for 30 quid on ebay which is what I bought recently after the others fell apart .
The other 2 wont be far behind and injectors are dear if you leave it
600 each from bmw plus fitting I heard

Not long back from the dealers. I assume and hope all three sections will be replaced. The middle piece has broken now as well. If OE replacements are strionger that would be better and it being a no cost deal better still.
I did buy and fit the same sections from China for the now departed E70. The previous owner of that ignored the same breakage and did walk into an expenseive injector issue. I think he claimed it was a four figure job. Thats certainly one to be avoided
There's been no suggestion of any compensation. Given there was no charge for the fuse investigation works i'm happy enough.
