Had a new iPhone and was trying to re-enable the CarPlay on the M, that was a rather challenging job.

Even though the phone is found, and you can connect and pair using BT, it fails with the CarPlay part after you tell the phone to connect.

The way to fix that in my case was to drop the WiFi to the car after which it finally worked.

The only car with the issue so far, the others just worked.

Given BMW have such a close relationship with Apple it’s sort of a surprise, but on the other hand it could be Apple just pushing stuff out like Microsoft do. I’ve had a few issues with IOS26 and apps have only started working again after what seem like emergency patches from their makers.

There was a period about two years ago where none of our iPhones would pair with BMWs after an IOS update. Then came another small update and it all worked just fine.

BMW also made security changes about this time last year that prevented companies like Octopus from being able to control charging, or even pair to the cars. That took months to fix and required chargepoints and energy suppliers to redesign their comms link systems in order to support BMWs again.

Software testing and integration seems to be an issue for everyone these days.
