Tha'ts amazing must be one of the highest mileage ones about now
I'm really surprised the autobox has held up to 400k. My x5 e70sd is on 175k now but had quite a few issues after 150k , rear diff failed, dpf end of life warning , rad had a pinhole and this year 2 injectors gone with likely more to follow

Thanks, I looked at various posts when I purchased. BMW say the gearbox is sealed for life, by which they mean 60,000 miles. There are allegedly pros and cons to opening up the gearbox and changing the oil. I bought the car at 72,000, so I thought I’d wait and see. Gearbox/oil/filter has never been touched.

Thats seriously impressive. Hopefully it will reach the half million miles. At which point an invite to BMW might be in order?

Apparently you need to have owned the car from new for that. What I will say is that I am meticulous when it comes to getting repairs done and I never use cheap oil. Right or wrong, I won’t let me local garage supply the oil for servicing, I supply the oil myself. Usually Castrol Magnatec with Titanium and added Fairy Dust.
Interestingly as the car ages, so the green servicing lights go longer before going out. A lot of folk say that they get circa 3000 miles for each green light. I don’t know if they’re town drivers or not, but I do a lot of motorway miles, but as the car has aged (run in?), it’s now around 7000 to 7500 per light, resulting in circa 35,000 miles servicing intervals. And before anyone says that is too long, at 405,000 miles it seems to be doing just fine.

At the other end of the spectrum our 2010 ford focus 1.8 petrol duratec engine is shagged at 63k genuine miles with 10k oil changes but ultra short runs only from day 1 ( mostly 2 to 5 mile runs all its life then left all day and another cold start ) so the conditions of use are much more important than the interval , motorway use is ideal as your car shows . When I lift the oil filler cap I can feel the crankcase pressure pumping out against my hand of lost compression and oil comsumption now is 400 miles to the litre

I wonder if any other forum users are up around 400,000 miles, or next closest?

My E71 shares similar digits but doesn't compare missing a 0 at just a tad over 40,000 miles.
The E70 bought for export is working towards 140.000
That said both are for sale now, i can only drive one.
