I have a 2017 X5 30d, up until 25.7.25 my phone app lets me to do certain things ( sounding the horn, flashing the lights etc) I could also send a destination to the car for the sat nav. Checking the car was locked, how much fuel was in the tank and the mileage. All this has stopped and show as it was on the 25th of July, any idea why this has happened?
Many thanks
Mark

It’s likely that your car has only got a 3G modem on board. 3G is being withdrawn globally and any agreement with whoever was their UK supplier may have ended. BMW have also been deprecating software & support for older cars. My X6 is no longer supported and the facilities I used to pay for have either ceased working or even being available.
On the other hand, it may just be that BMW’s servers are offline again. I suspect the former is the issue.
Owners of the latest Gen cars were told this week that support for any 3rd party systems that have access to our cars will cease as of 1st September. Octopus Energy had to change the way they control charging of my i4 to one they own. Only ‘approved’ suppliers now have permission. People in the US who use HomeKit are not impressed!

You say owners were told this week - not me and it stopped working 11 days ago!
So is that it?

Sorry I should have been clearer, that is for EVs and PHEVs (plug in hybrids)
I’ve never had anything regarding services stopping in the X6, they just stopped. When investigating in the ConnectedDrive Store, the functions were no longer listed. I can’t even gets maps for it now from BMW.
It might be worth calling BMW UK and seeing what they say. If you’ve got a 4G modem then it could be a fault, however the MyBMW App tells me if it can’t connect to the car. BMW themselves say all 2014+ cars should still work. Yours being 2017 may have a different issue in the vehicle.
Another thought that occurs, has your subscription expired? Is there also a security setting in the car about sharing data. Is it still set to share data? Finally, all I can think if is whether or not there’s been an App update for the car itself? This can be checked in idrive by looking for updates. Some need to be downloaded to a USB stick, plugged into the car and updated through idrive menus.
You have a later version that I do so you may need to trawl the web on how to do it. It may be possible to get it Over the Air (OTA) as that is how my i4 does it, but I don’t know what year they introduced OTA. I don’t remember my 2-series having it, but it may have done. That was a 2018 build.

Why has the app stopped working
Thanks for the info, it started working about 10.30 last night, I did a short trip this morning, and that is there. It begs the question why was it not working for 13 days, one of the oddity’s of BMW.
Why has the app stopped working
That’s good to know, and definitely the cheapest / simplest option!
Over recent months there have been all kinds of problems with BMWs servers. The data goes from your car to their data centre and back to you. The bit in the middle seems to keep falling over. Owners in the US have been suffering badly! BMW of course tells no one what is happening. I’ve had my i4 disappear from the App for a week during this year, and then just magically reappear with no data missing at all.
Not exactly a shining example for BMW Tech, but then again, it probably isn’t theirs.
