X3 g01 which engine

I'm in the market for an X3 G01, but want I do t know what's the best engine to go for I'm after the most fuel efficient really. Currently own a plug in a3 which is averaging 70mpg as most our trips are less than 5 miles daily.. but my god has it lost some money.
I was looking at the 30e as a plugin

If be interested if you guys can help me decide, and tell me what engines you have and what mpg you get please.around town and on longer trips.

If you can charge often and mostly drive short trips, the 30e is a great choice with strong efficiency. For longer drives without charging, fuel economy drops to similar levels as the 30i. The 20d diesel is worth considering if you do more motorway miles.

The 30e is a 2-litre power unit with electric support. When not ‘on battery’ then you’re just running a 20i and lugging a battery about. Still worth going for if your usage is low mileage as you’ll be on battery all the time.
