BMW X5 Hartge

Post by Finlayphotography » Wed Apr 16, 2025 2:51 pm

Hello, A friend of mine owns a 2001, 5.0L, BMW X5 Hartge. 1 of 2 in the UK and the only one that came from Germany. He's looking to get it valued for potential sale but even BMW themselves are saying they can't value it. It has an extensive list of modifications. Does anyone know of somewhere that will value the car for him. Thanks in advanced for any help !

Hello and Welcome.

I would suggest a specialist in ‘exotic’ cars is the only option. BMW will just use Glass’s Guide, as will the vast majority of car dealers. If it’s not listed then they have no guide to work from.

Someone like Specialist Car Valuations in Northampton might be able to point you/your friend in the right direction.

If I remember correctly, Kevin Bird Garages in Iver, Bucks had something to do with Hartge. Might be an idea to try them.

Isn't the old saying, its worth what someone is willing to pay applicable here?

Its a niche machine for sure, so obviously has limited market appeal. That said it appeals to me. Had i not recently bought a budget E70 i would be asking for the sellers details.

To return to the question, mileage and condition will obviously be relevant. I'd use the 4.6/4.8 variants as a guide and add some £s for rarity.

Impressive that the 4.4 motor was taken to 5.0 before Alpina acheved the 4.6/4.8.

Of course the one off 6.0l V12 E53 Le Mans, with a manual gearbox, was something a bit special, but thats not for sale. (Search on YT)
