E71 tailgate lock
Is there a plastic cover missing from mine or is this BMWs best effort. Had the car a few few years now and never thought of it until i was challenged why it looks 'unfinished'.
Now that I've been drawn to it, it does look rather crude

Miserly penny pinchers : 
i beleive the X5 has a plastic cover over its lock. But whatever, if there was never one for the X6, ill move on. That said i have cracked my balding bonce on it more than once. The tailgate is set to the lowest lift by necessity, or it would thwack the garage door above it.
