E71 dash camera wiring

Its irrational but I've always shyed away from doing this, principally because I've never ventured into the fuse box, despite tinkering in various other areas of the car

The fuse box is under the dashboard passenger side, apparently, but whats the way in?

Three screws at the front edge of the lower trim panel. Remove them and lower the trim panel.

I went a different route and used the cigarette lighter/12V socket as the source. The needs removal of the drivers side centre console upper carpet trim (single screw towards the front and then slide trim forward). It has engaging hooks at the rear. I connected into that and found a nearby ground connection. The camera I use is from Nextbase and uses their wiring kit. The hardwire kit parts are now located above the pedal area trim piece and wiring run up the driver’s A-pillar.

When you run the cable up the A-pillar bear in mind there is an airbag in there. My wires are pushed just behind the trim at the windscreen edge all the way. If you come up the headliner edge and then cross over at the top, you run the risk of fouling the airbag deployment path. Hence my staying along the windscreen side. You only need a thin plastic trim tool to nudge the wiring behind the edge of the trim. If you’re feeling a bit braver then you can remove the A-pillar trim piece and route the wiring in with the loom behind.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Mine is down the passenger A pillar ,under the fuse box across to centre console where it joins the cigarette wiring too , there is a slot that allows the wire to go across under the centre console from what I remember to right side where the wiring is.

Food for thought. I think if i reached the fuse box I'd hook in there. Having pulled some centre console trim so recently to fit the wireless charger, i don't fancy disturbing that again.
