Airbag (Suspension)

Post by henrym3 » Wed Jan 15, 2025 8:53 pm

As it mentions somewhere else I have changed the airbag, not a very difficult job but boy did I piss about trying to get the pump to work. In the end I needed to go somewhere so needed to move the x to get the Alpina out. Dropped it of the jack and hey presto the pump started. Why??

Airbag (Suspension)

MOD EDIT - added suspension to stop confusion with safety restraint system. Well it threw me off at least

All I can think of is either the height sensor was out of limit, or may be there’s a different sensor on the pump either of which prevents the pump from starting until ‘in limit’?
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

It’s not that I haven’t changed air bags before or dumped the air for other reasons but I must have always put the car on the ground before switching the ignition on. Amazing that I found out how something works by accident.

Airbag (Suspension)

Post by Alan Gunn » Fri Jan 17, 2025 6:10 am

I walked into my m8s garage one Saturday morning to a warm welcome ?? strange.
"Al you know about BMW's why won't the pump on this run we only changed the bags" lol.
Drop the wheels back down on the ramp and turn the car on i said.
Well my m8 and the guy who works for him started at each other in Welch turned out the car had been on the ramp all day Friday.
And these two guy's are old school one is 64 and the other 68 i had to laugh.
So henrym3 you are not on your own.
