So far I love it, but it has no backup camera nor screen. I would like to add both including CarPlay. Any recommendations/advice? Also is it worth it to also add the idrive controller?

Given your car is the top version, I’m surprised that kit isn’t already installed. Has yours not got any form of navigation system?
The idrive controller is simply the interface into the CIC (Car Infotainment Computer) system and if not fitted then you need all of that, the wiring looms and most importantly FSC (authorisation codes for the options) from BMW. You’re looking at a minimum charge of $2,000US (just for the CIC unit) plus all the other parts on top (screen, loom, controller, FSC, installation, coding). Adding that entire system would cost more than the car is worth I suspect. There is no official retrofit kit, so you’ll need to work with a main dealer and parts team to identify all the required components.

I would make contact with them as the site indicates keeping the CIC system and your car has none of that fitted. I can’t offer any view on how this kit will integrate when the target vehicle has none of the OEM kit in board. It might need none of it in which case you’re onto something.
