Rear Wheel - Toe In
I just noticed the rear tyres on my X5 are scrubbed beyond legal on the inside edges of both rear tyres.
Had the vehicle up in the air for 4 wheel alignment check today.
The REAR Camber was -1.5 degrees & the ideal setting, but BOTH rear wheels were toe'ing OUT by about -1.3 degrees, hence scrubbing the inside edges out.
The RHS wheel was adjusted to 0.0' (Ideal), but the LHS is still -0.7' toe OUT at maximum available adjustment.
The tyre bay guy suggested getting a replacement bar, as the bushes may be tighter as the original is 18yrs old & maybe a bit spongy..
****** So, what is the official NAME of this bar, so I can order another....
the only ones I can fins on ebay have a small bend in the middle, where as the fitted part in the vehicle is straight...

Do ensure that the subframe lugs that the eccentric bolt and washer come up against are in good nick otherwise you lose half the eccentric adjustment. While your there check that item 2 has absolutely no play. In order to check 2 you must let all the air out of the bags and wriggle (vigorously)at the 12 and 6 o’clock position.

From an interest point of view I was told years ago that 0.07 toe in should be viewed as a maximum. The nearer to 0.00 like you have on the right will give good tyre life. I have 0.05 and 28k on the rear tyres and expect there is at least another 5k left.

My rear suspension is coil spring upgraded.
We could only get DOWN to 0.07 Toe Out on the rear Left... which was 0.27 ° TOE Out on the rear left.
& about 0.25 Toe OUT on the rear Right.
Managed to get the Right side to 0.00..
I bought a replacement track arm for the LHS , & the original part was knackered as the bush rubber was a tad soggy, so hopefully the new one will pull it all in nicely when fitted soon.
