Yes it’s amazing. Not confirmed as yet but all the circumstantial evidence points to it.

Oh dear not good news
I hope it isn't the worst case

Good news and fingers crossed is all ok, then a nice letter of apology to the supplying dealer, if it turns out to be from an attempted scam
Advice on engine failure..
They ghosted us from the beginning so no apology from us.

Let Trading Standards know, name and shame to them so it forms evidence should action need taking in an ‘official’ capacity.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Where the people who bought it from the dealers the scammers ? I've read it a few times now and cant decide who is scamming who

I got a bit lost as well.
Did think you had just bought it.

Right.. We bought it from a dealer in Chalfont St Giles in April to replace the Discovery.
The moment it was delivered the wife wasn't sure (!) so I thought sod it I'll list both the audi and the Discovery to see which sells first.
The Audi was the fist to get a call.
The dealer who sold it to us clocked it on Ebay and sent a cheeky offer which I ignored.
A week later 3 goons of a similar ethnic orientation to the dealers come to view the car. That when the agro started..
Coincidence? Don't know.
Thinking back, they kept saying that they had another Q7 that was accident damaged and they could use mine as spares. All very odd.
Anyway that's the basic story.

Thanks for clearing it up, it does sound a bit of a coincidence for sure

Thanks for sorting that out.
Have a drive by the dealers now and again you might spot them there.

My son had this scam done to him years ago. Oil in coolant after test drive. He was lucky that his son was watching the cctv and seen them pour the oil in while he was showing them the spare tyre.

We have Ring cctv cameras around the property but I didn’t know that default recording history length is 30 days so nothing is on them. I’ve set them to 180 days now.
Just a side question- is ok to advertise the cars next time and state that certain types of individuals or groups are not welcome?

Seen an advert the other day and one thing i remember was they had put no more than 2 people viewing.
You could put something like you won't show the car to anyone you think is not a genuine buyer.
Somebody on here will come up with a better list of things to put i am not that clever.

I think putting any sort of restrictions on an ad won't make any difference and will only encourage time wasters /scanners imo as well as maybe discouraging genuine buyers as you will come across as grumpy and hard to deal with.

I'm inclined to agree with Leslie.
Do you have anyone who could be an extra pair of eyes for you during any viewings? Strength in numbers, and all that.
Also, have any paperwork/documents relating to the vehicle(s) close to hand so that you don't have to turn your back for any longer than necessary.
