chirping noise from the engine
chirping noise from the engine
hey guys, lately when ive been driving the x i have been getting intermitent chirping noise from the engine that can be heard when the window is down, will go away and come back. similar sound when u see old cars sound of the belts. as the x is chain driven are there any other belts that can make this noise. only thing wrong at the mo is its losing coolant, which it has been doing since i owned the car which is unrelated, brake warning has come on but i wreckon thats just the sensor when the sticky caliper was replaced. any ideas will be appriciated thanks.
Re: chirping noise from the engine
Is the coolant leak from the pump? If so it could be the pump bearings
Re: chirping noise from the engine
+1 for suspect water pump bearing. And remember all you ancillaries like the water pump, steering pump, alternator, AC compressor etc are belt driven. Only the camshaft drive is chain rather than those scary cambelts that ruin engines.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

It was the cam chain that did for my engine . My Ducati cambelts have been no problem
