I have flirted with the idea of these for some time now. Last time i delved into it, they were all getting on for a four figure cost, which stopped me jumping in. Now though, prices have softened considerably.
But also, with the passage of time, there is now a 12" screen option. This, though, sits offset to the dash centre lines
I'd appreciate others thoughts on which to pursue?

Xtrons have been around for a while, but no idea how good/bad/otherwise their products are.
I know with the E53, functions were no longer available unless the MID unit was moved to the glovebox - which kind of defeated the object. Technology and connectivity should have improved somewhat since then (I hope!) so worth a try.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I fitted one into the E70 after lots of expensive issues with the OEM screen. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again truly plug and play lets me switch between the CiC or Android system using all the OEM controls. I my opinion it allows a better choice of sat nav programs and obviously just like anything Android has more Apps than you can use !! Bluetooth is reliable Apple Car Play and Android Auto are all there and easy to use. All for less ££ than BMW wanted to try yet another fix

Hit a problem now, just on the verge of buying, asked about whether it would need plugging into the AUX socket. Short answer yes. I don't fancy the extra labour or trim removal for that. More contemplation required.

Thanks. A quick perusal seems to suggest an AUX connection is required
