Rotalla ice plus winter tyres on the front my e70 have covered 20,500 mile now and have still just over 4mm of tread left. These are not approved tyres but I'd definately buy them again, I've ran them summer and winter and no complaints at all. They do need a higher pressure than runflats though, I use 39 psi front and 40 psi rear. The rears have about 6mm of tread left and have done 15k now.. When fitted they were about 400 a set you could hardly buy I approved tyre for that now

I think you’ll be lucky to buy just one ‘approved’ tyre for that price!! Dealer prices for 20” RFT with ⭐️ on the sidewall were more than £450 a corner. I had them changed by a local place but it was still £1100 for a set.

A good saving then, how long do you get from a set do you think? :driving:

Varies. The Dunlop SportMaxx the car came with lasted about 11k, they were replaced with Bridgestone Dueller which gave 18k and were in turn replaced by Continental ContactSport 5. Those weren’t lasting well but had to be replaced after about 12k because of a sidewall failure (resulting in a failed MOT). I’ve now got Bridgestones back on as they have lasted the best. Winter saw use of Pirelli Scorpions which are still the original set from 2011 - not used for the last few years and can’t find the right 19” sizes now!

I found winter tyres after abut 5 or 6 years the sidewalls go probably to do with the natural rubber used so if they get near 5 I run them all year to use them up. I was using Nokians on my last car and I think they tend to go porous and leak as they age.

You got a great deal. I wonder what would be the price of such tyres now.
