PDC question
Re: PDC question
The corner ones on the rear are the straight type, same as fitted on the front centre on mine. Thought they were gonna be different but when I popped them out they were the same. The front corners are the different ones I think. Never got round to removing one of them. Problem was sorted. Swapped around the 2 front centres, then started removing the rear ones and swapping em over. Like I said, I don't know what I did but they work now!

well got my sensor, all looked good
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT
went through to my dads for the day so took it with me see if a tag team could fit it!!
said to my dad how do you think i will get that out?
he said not sure and just pushed the sensor with his thumb! out it went just like that i thought that was awesome!!
started taking the bits apart to fit the new one then realised the wee key bit for the wire connection was not the same.
the ebay add did said check connection!!.. but i thought e53 would be cool... school boy error!!
so after a couple of mins i said feck it , lets just break the wee plastic key bit on the new sensor so it would fit.
after a lot o fiddling got it and fitted it, stuck it in reverse click click it went superb i thought!!
but o no pdc light still on!! did a "stick yer ear to each sensor test" and found out one of the front is making no nose too!!
bugger, please tell me i dont have to take the front bumper off, can see it's a straight one but cany see how to get there!!

Re: PDC question
Fellow forumers
The PDC is behaving at the moment but the ear/finger test revealed the the front corner offside is very weak
Front centres....loud clicks and get louder as your finger tip approaches
Front nearside....weak but gets a bit louder as your finger tip approaches. Slightly better than earlier test after WD40, wipe, hair dryer like mad
Front offside.....very noticeably weakand gets a bit louder as your finger tip approaches. No better than earlier test after WD40, wipe, hair dryer like mad
So I think I might bite the bullet and get hold of a corner one
Rumour has it....and realoem that front corners are 90 degree bend types on my facelift?
The other 6 are straight?
This looks like one but I keep seeing 2 pin 3 pin etc
Is this what I need and what about the number of pins?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-Parking-Senso ... 8245260390
edit...in this ebay link the part end in 6989070...which I cannot find
However realoem says
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=66&fg=05
12 Ultrasonic-sensor SCHWARZ 2 10/2003 66216938738 ENDED
12 Ultrasonic-sensor SCHWARZ 2 10/2003 66206989068 $129.88
Not sure why different unless improved (I wish) but I guess I want 66206989068?
Comments welcome please?
Thanks....Mike

You have a pm mate
You need a corner 90 degree one as you stated and can either get the exact one from the dealers for about £65 iirc or take pot luck on ebay for about £20 ish.
Without taking the bumper back off to see i'm not 100 % but am 99.9% sure that they are 3 pin and that any 3 pin bmw 90 degree one will fit and work.
I'm not sure as to why they have so many discontinued ones ....perhaps as you said earlier in the post that they have improved them.
I might actualy get around to fixing my own when i get the time to do so if i ever get the bottom of the most annoying problem i have had on my x
Failing that i am going to recode the car to just use the rears and unplug the fronts like evoblue did as mentioned here...... viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1913
See earlier posts on this thread for where i got mine from and how they have to be adapted to fit

Thaks for that and thanks for the PM too...much appreciated....£65 sounds not tooooo excessive for piece of mind that it will fit.

Re: PDC question
Right...I'm going to take the plunge and get an angled PDC fro the front offside corner
Realoem says
Ultrasonic-sensor SCHWARZ 2 10/2003 66216938738 ENDED
12 Ultrasonic-sensor SCHWARZ 2 10/2003 66206989068 $129.88
So I'll go for the 66206989068
A quick peek under the rear bumper shows three (3) wires going to the PDC so three wires seems logical
Which of these would you plump for?....the £20 one seems tempting if it fits
I had a look at the grimbsy BMW link from earlier but non seemed stocked
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-PDC-Parking-S ... 500wt_1156
There is this one...3 wires...no part number...and £20...is it too good to be true?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-MINI-PDC-PARK ... 33671354ef
Or this one listed as 6989068 at around £43...£23 more but is it better?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E39-E60-E61-X ... 3366a58d1f

I'm bemused at your quote of £65 from the dealer.
I haven't rung them up yet Realoem lists them at $129.88 which with a quick conversion gives £80.17 + vat= £96.20 or thereabouts
Is this some generous BMW dealer you've encountered

Perhaps try ringing them before being bemused
here's one for you here with the vat..... http://www.cooper-bmw-parts.co.uk/index ... virtuemart and that just took me 10 secs on tinternet to find before even asking for a discount
BTW FWIW last time i looked at buying one from the dealer they were £65 .....inflations a bitch

".... can either get the exact one from the dealers for about £65 iirc or take pot luck on ebay for about £20 ish..."
I'm bemused at your quote of £65 from the dealer.
I haven't rung them up yet Realoem lists them at $129.88 which with a quick conversion gives £80.17 + vat= £96.20 or thereabouts
Is this some generous BMW dealer you've encountered[/quote]
Perhaps try ringing them before being bemused
here's one for you here with the vat..... http://www.cooper-bmw-parts.co.uk/index ... virtuemart and that just took me 10 secs on tinternet to find before even asking for a discount
BTW FWIW last time i looked at buying one from the dealer they were £65 .....inflations a bitch

Well it was the weekend (and I was out
).
I was bemused because i've never got a discount off BMW ever and I'd never seen genuine stuff on the tinterweb. I bow to your tinterweb surfing skills
£85.01 (got to love the 1p) seems no tooo bad
Still £65 over this....is it too good to be true?

Decisions decisions
Realoem says
Ultrasonic-sensor SCHWARZ 2 10/2003 66216938738 ENDED
12 Ultrasonic-sensor SCHWARZ 2 10/2003 66206989068 $129.88
So I'll go for the 66206989068
A quick peek under the rear bumper shows three (3) wires going to the PDC so three wires seems logical
Which of these would you plump for?....the £20 one seems tempting if it fits
I had a look at the grimbsy BMW link from earlier but non seemed stocked

There is this one...3 wires...no part number...and £20...is it too good to be true?

Or this one listed as 6989068 at around £43...£23 more but is it better?
